He was never one to enjoy having his picture taken. Most of the photos were snapped from a distance or when he wasn't paying attention.

Natalie still knew exactly why she had liked him since they were kids.

She was actually quite self-centered back then. In kindergarten, she was the boss of her class. All the kids hovered around her and wanted to play with her because she was the prettiest, the smartest, and knew all the best games.

The reason she took the initiative to talk to Hassan the moment she saw him was simply that he was far more handsome than the other boys. He was on the slender side, with a luminous porcelain complexion. Back then, his eyes looked impossibly large, his eyelashes incredibly long.

As a little girl, she used to stare at his face in a daze, counting those eyelashes.

Of course, good looks alone would only make her want to play with him—it wouldn't make her cling to him the way she did.

She stuck to him because he could always solve her problems.

No matter what kind of trouble she got into, he handled it with the calm maturity of an adult.

Most importantly, he never punished her by piling on extra homework like her mother did.

The harshest penalty he ever gave was making her face the wall in a ten-second timeout.

Back then, she would secretly mimic the way he spoke, thinking to herself that once she caught him making a mistake, she'd make him do a ten-second timeout, too.

But up until the moment he cheated, she had never caught him doing anything wrong.

Aside from not loving her, he seemed entirely flawless.

And now, this mistake was so massive that there was no way a childish ten-second timeout could fix it.

“You haven't turned a page in a while. Deep in thought?” Ferris asked from beside her.

Natalie snapped back to reality and nodded. “Yeah, just remembered a few things.”
