Dragging her into another empty conference room, Hassan slammed the door shut behind him and pinned her against it. Their gazes locked in a stubborn standoff, Natalie's breath trembling.

He leaned in slowly, the anger still vivid on his face.

Natalie spoke with complete indifference. "If you think it was me, call the cops. I'd rather sit in a police station than stay here and watch you act."

She no longer wanted to exhaust herself defending her innocence. Every word she spoke was meant to be a knife—the deeper it cut, the better.

He leaned down, his eyelashes brushing her cheek. The kiss came fiercely, his warm breath wrapping around her nose in an urgent, desperate collision. His lips crashed down heavily, his tongue sweeping over her lip line as his arms wrapped tightly around her waist, crushing her into his embrace.

There was no gentle build-up. Amid the clash of teeth and tangled breaths, it felt as if all the noise of the outside world had been sealed away. The way his fingertips dragged down her spine felt suffocatingly heavy.

This kiss was more of a pillage.

His lips ground against hers, sending waves of numbness and pain through her.

Natalie tried to break free, but he pinned both her hands against his chest. No matter how she struggled, she remained trapped in his arms.

Her eyes grew red. She let out a few muffled whimpers, her chest trembling as tears soaked her eyelashes.

When his thumb brushed her cheek and caught the dampness of her tears, Hassan finally stopped. They were both breathing heavily, their breaths still mingled together.

Choking on sobs and shaking uncontrollably, Natalie slowly slid down against the door, wrapping her arms around her knees. Her voice was raspy and fractured. "Get out. I want to be alone."

"Natalie, not a single person in that room believes a word you say. The only person you can rely on is me. The only person you can trust is me. Do you understand?"

"How ridiculous." She snapped her head up, rose to her feet, and landed two hard slaps across his face before he could react.

Red marks quickly surfaced on his cheeks. He lowered his eyes, his thick, dark lashes concealing whatever emotions swirled beneath. Raising a hand, he pulled her back into his arms, pressing his hot cheek against the cool shell of her ear. "Don't believe me? Try it. Let's see who else is going to help you now."

"Hassan, you know perfectly well I never touched those documents. You're the only one who goes into your study, and you're the only one who had access to them." Tears poured from her eyes, fueled by raw emotion. "Do I need to spell it out for you?!"
