Natalie smiled and nodded. "Alright, I know."
Seeing how agreeable she was, Cecily's tone softened even more. "I'll have Hassan pick you up later."
"Just have him text me. I can make my own way back."
Cecily let out a sigh. "I really hope you two can work things out and stop causing so much drama."
Natalie closed her eyes and turned her face toward the car window.
The interior of the car fell silent.
Cecily looked over at Hassan. "Hassan, I don't know what you're thinking. You haven't divorced Natalie yet, so you obviously don't want to. I know you—if you truly wanted to marry Gardenia, even if the whole world tried to stop you, you'd still stick to your guns. Since you don't want to marry Gardenia, why act like this? Does it make you feel good to see Natalie in her current state? I practically watched her grow up. She used to be such a vibrant and cheerful girl. Now she barely talks and hardly ever smiles. Does your conscience really allow this?"
Cecily sighed heavily again. "I keep thinking about how much love you two shared before. Don't wait until the very end only to regret it."
"I won't regret it," the man replied, his voice clear and utterly devoid of warmth.
Cecily shot him a look.
He slightly lowered his eyelashes, concealing the emotions in his eyes.
"Sigh." Seeing that he only had this one sentence in response to her long speech, Cecily felt a stifling anger in her chest. She closed her eyes and said nothing more.
Just wait and see.
She was fighting so hard to keep Natalie from divorcing him all for his sake. From childhood until now, she had never seen a second person who could stir his emotions the way Natalie did.
...
Natalie went to the commercial district to meet Ferris.
