She walked into the private dining room. Ferris looked up and greeted her, "Natalie, I'm so glad you invited me to dinner."
Natalie offered a small smile, walked over, and sat down. "Well, I was worried you wouldn't be in Kingswood City much longer. By the way, we've talked so much, but I don't think I've ever asked you what you do for a living."
"Haha, that's understandable. Seeing me at the seminar, you probably assumed I was an academic. Actually, I specialize in funding research institutes. I thought you were a scholar too. When I later heard from others that you were a full-time housewife, honestly, I was very surprised. After our last discussion, I learned so much. You're so talented—why would you choose to be a stay-at-home wife? How about it? Do you want to come work at my institute?"
Natalie chuckled softly, politely declining, "Thank you for the invitation, but I'm quite satisfied with my current life."
"Are you really?" Ferris shrugged. "When you called me for help last time, I was very surprised. If I were your husband, I would absolutely trust you."
The comment crossed a line, but Natalie didn't say much. She simply nodded. "Is that so."
Ferris pulled out his phone. "Oh, by the way, your husband contacted me too. He said he wanted to meet up, but I haven't replied to him yet. Do you want me to see him?"
Natalie lowered her eyes.
Hassan wanted to meet Ferris?
She asked, "Do you know why Hassan wants to see you?"
Ferris raised an eyebrow. "I can probably guess. I helped you last time, and men can be very territorial about these things. I figure you two haven't communicated in a long time, which is why he reached out to me."
Natalie's eyelashes fluttered downwards. "We're past the point of communication."
Just then, her phone rang. It was Hassan. Natalie rejected the call.
A second later, a text from him popped up.
[Why aren't you answering the phone.]
