Cecily, Hassan, and Adrian were all in the living room.
The two adults were sitting on the sofa, while the little boy was on the rug playing with a miniature robot.
The robot Adrian was playing with wasn't a standard retail toy; Natalie had never seen anything like it.
From the moment she walked in, Adrian had been quietly assembling the robot's components without sparing her a single glance.
"Natalie's back, we can serve dinner now," Cecily announced.
Only then did Faye bring the dishes to the table.
Most of the food on the table was tailored to Natalie's tastes.
It was a small token of compensation, a subtle bribe to make her swallow the humiliation she had suffered at the hospital.
Cecily truly was a shrewd businesswoman.
Natalie didn't say a word and took her seat.
Faye placed a bowl in front of her. "This is a freshly made holistic wellness soup, ma'am. Please, try some."
Natalie picked up her spoon and took a bite. It had a fresh, floral fragrance mixed with a faint hint of herbal medicine.
She looked at the housekeeper in surprise. "Why does it taste like medicine?"
Faye glanced at Hassan. "Mr. Carlson brought back some premium herbal supplements and said cooking them into the soup would be good for your health, so I added them. You can treat it as a wellness broth."
Once Faye finished speaking, Hassan looked over at Cecily. "Cecily, some of those herbs were meant for Natalie, and some were meant for you, so I had Faye prepare them separately."
Cecily nodded, looking very pleased. "You finally figured out how to dote on your wife."
Natalie silently ate her soup, completely ignoring Cecily's remark.
