He had a strikingly handsome, aristocratic face—a strong brow, narrow eyes that slanted slightly downward at the corners, giving him a gentle, languid look. A straight nose bridge, thin lips lightly pressed together, and a clean, sharp jawline. His perfectly structured profile softened under the warm lighting, diffusing his normally cold aura. With his long, elegant fingers patiently assembling the tiny robot pieces, he glanced down at the child beside him, a faint, undeniable smile melting into his eyes.
Tucked right beside him was Adrian, wearing a yellow loungewear set, kneeling on the carpet with his little legs tucked under him.
His large, dark eyes were entirely focused on the half-finished robot on the floor, his long eyelashes fluttering occasionally. Soft bangs fell over his forehead as his tiny hands gripped a screwdriver, his arms bobbing up and down as he struggled with the screws. Every now and then, he would tilt his head up to look at the man beside him. He was so well-behaved and adorable it made one's heart melt.
Seeing this, Hassan let out a low chuckle. His large hand carefully guided the little boy's hands, helping him put the pieces together. The big and small figures leaned against each other on the sunlit rug, creating a picture of a handsome, mature man and a sweet, innocent child that was overwhelmingly warm and healing.
And she felt like an alien object entirely outside of that picture.
Such a heartwarming scene had absolutely nothing to do with her.
She took a step, intending to head straight to her room, but after just two steps, Hassan called out to her.
"I remember you loved playing with these when you were little. Want to give it a try?"
Natalie glanced over. The man's expression was calm, as if he genuinely just remembered her childhood hobby on a whim.
She took two steps closer and said, "This? I lost interest in this a long time ago."
Her gaze swept over the scattered parts. "I haven't touched one in years."
As she turned to leave, the man's long fingers hooked around her hand.
His grip slid upward, securely circling her slender wrist.
She lowered her eyelashes, staring at the elegant hand wrapped around her.
Adrian sat off to the side, watching them, his eyes fixed on their connected hands.
Natalie's gaze turned a bit complicated. She narrowed her eyes at Hassan. "What are you doing?"
Did he figure something out?
Was this a test?
With a million thoughts running through her head, she didn't immediately pull away.
