The man didn't answer her question. Staring at the suitcase in her hand, he simply asked, "Where are you moving to?"

His voice was very low, sounding completely detached. Natalie looked up at him. "Anywhere works."

As long as she didn't have to see him.

So many years of reliance and habit meant that looking at the person in front of her only brought pain and hatred. She had tried her hardest to suppress her emotions, but it wasn't enough.

When he showed up at the perfume boutique with Gardenia and took away the 'evidence' that could ruin her, did he even spare a single thought for the position it put her in?

She genuinely marveled at how ruthlessly cold-hearted he could be.

"Anywhere?" His gaze remained fixed on her as he let out a mocking scoff. "Anywhere works, just as long as it's not here?"

He grabbed the hand she was using to hold the suitcase. Then, applying heavy pressure, he shoved her hand aside and knocked the luggage over.

Bang—

The suitcase slammed onto the floor.

The sound sent a sharp jolt through Natalie's heart. She stared at him with wide eyes, but his expression was entirely placid. His dark eyes were utterly calm and composed.

After that, silence fell over the room. The air seemed to freeze.

She slowly crouched down, reaching to right the suitcase.

The man crouched down with her, pressing both hands onto her shoulders. Kneeling on one knee, he murmured to her in a flat tone, "You were the one who insisted on moving in back then, remember?"

Natalie broke down, violently shoving his hands away. "I haven't forgotten! And I regret it! How could I have been so pathetic, clinging to you, following you around like an idiot? It was childish and pathetic."

Her face pale, she quietly pushed out three words: "I hate you."

"What did you say?" He remained half-kneeling, his fingers resting over his knee slowly curling into a tight fist. His ink-dark eyes locked onto hers, his expression turning intensely terrifying.

As if giving up on holding anything back, she collapsed onto the floor. Looking up at him, her eyes were completely red. The faint blue veins on her fragile, pale neck strained with every word she forced out. "If I could, I'd choose to never have met you. Every second I spend with you is pure torture."

Her love for him had been broken down into pure hatred.
