"I need to speak with Hassan."
"Mr. Carlson isn't home."
"Oh." The other side didn't say anything else and ended the intercom feed.
Not long after, Faye heard a phone ringing.
She looked back and saw Hassan's phone sitting on the table.
Her gaze instinctively drifted to the tall figure standing out on the balcony.
This was the first time she had ever seen Hassan smoke inside the house. It was obvious he was deeply distressed by the fight that had just happened.
The phone kept ringing, so she eventually grabbed it and walked toward the balcony. "Ms. Sutton is calling."
The night outside was desolate, making the glowing ember between his fingers look exceptionally stark.
Faye thought he would at least answer the call.
Instead, the hand holding the cigarette reached out and snatched the phone. In the very next second, he hurled it over the edge. The force in his arm was so immense that his whole body jerked with it, followed by heavy, ragged breathing.
Below them was the lawn. The phone hit the ground with a heavy, muffled thud.
Faye was so terrified she froze in place.
Even though the master of the house was usually the most emotionally detached person, and she always walked on eggshells around him, this was truly the first time she had ever seen him lose his temper to such an explosive degree.
All of his usual refined manners were completely gone.
...
Natalie went to Sunriver Residences. After washing up, she lay in bed, getting ready to sleep.
Faye sent her a text message.
She opened her phone.
Faye: [Ma'am, Ms. Sutton came by the house again.]
