Hassan heard this and frowned, a wave of intense irritation washing over him. "Now isn't the time to talk about this. Can you just get some rest? You were running a low fever when I left, how are you feeling now?"
After he spoke, he looked at the caregiver standing nearby.
"She still had a slight fever the last time I checked her temperature," the caregiver said cautiously.
Hassan's frown deepened. "Go get her medicine," he ordered.
With that, he walked over to the water dispenser in the hospital room, grabbed a paper cup, and poured some hot water, setting it aside to cool.
Natalie, however, kept her eyes fixed on the person lying in the hospital bed.
Her lips parted slightly as she spoke. "I'm so tired. I want to see Yvonne."
The man's expression darkened. Her body was incredibly fragile right now. In the past, whenever she was like this, she would instinctively turn to him, clinging to him shamelessly no matter what he was doing.
He walked over with the paper cup and brought it to her lips. "Drink some water first."
The caregiver returned with the medication.
Hassan offered the pills to her, but Natalie didn't move.
The corners of his lips pulled down, his voice dropping an octave. "You're sick, and you dare to go see your grandmother just to make her worry? If you want to see her, take your medicine. Once your fever breaks, you can go."
Natalie didn't even glance at him.
His expression grew even colder. He set the pills aside and reached out to check her forehead. "You're not going to take it? Are you waiting until the fever fries your brain?"
Natalie paused. She had to go to the lab tomorrow; she couldn't afford to let her brain fry.
She took the pills from the side, took a sip of water, and swallowed them down.
Just as the water went down, the man's long fingers pressed against her lips, slipping a gummy candy inside.
