Gardenia clamped down on her rising panic. "Your 'things to deal with'—does that just mean keeping Natalie company while she visits her grandmother?"

"More than that." His dark eyes locked onto Yvonne. Without another word, he pushed Yvonne’s wheelchair into the hospital room and firmly shut the door behind them.

Natalie pounded on the wood. "What are you doing?!"

"I just have some things to discuss with your grandmother. Don't worry, I'm not going to do anything to her," the man’s calm voice muffled through the door.

Natalie absolutely did not trust him. She threw one last anxious look at the room, then turned and bolted down the hall to find a doctor to unlock the door.

Only Jacob and Gardenia were left standing in the corridor.

Jacob looked at Gardenia in disgust. "Gardenia, you should go see the doctor. I’m going to wait out here for my assistant to bring my clothes."

Gardenia kept her eyes glued to the closed hospital door. "Hassan has been acting so weird lately."
