The doctor performed a routine check-up on Yvonne. Only after confirming she was perfectly fine did he leave the room.
Natalie knew she wasn't going to get any answers out of her grandmother about what was discussed behind closed doors.
She shot a look at Hassan. "Grandma, we'll get going now."
Yvonne’s gaze flickered, but she nodded.
Natalie grabbed Hassan’s sleeve and dragged him out into the hall.
Just as she was about to demand answers, she noticed Gardenia and Jacob were still out there.
Jacob's assistant had just arrived with fresh clothes, and Jacob snatched the bag, immediately bolting to find a bathroom. He couldn't endure the stench for another second.
Gardenia, on the other hand, was completely unbothered by her own dirty dress. Her eyes were fixated on the way Natalie was holding Hassan's hand.
Natalie noticed the glare.
But so what? Hassan was still legally her husband.
Natalie looked right back at Gardenia and didn't let go.
Gardenia's lips tightened. Bitter jealousy gnawed at her, but she comforted herself with the thought that they were getting divorced soon anyway. No matter how much Natalie clung to him now, it was just a desperate attempt to save face. That realization made her feel a little better.
She looked up at Hassan. "Are you finished dealing with your things?"
Hassan shifted his gaze to Natalie, his eyes darkening as he asked softly, "Are we finished?"
"What did you say to my grandmother?" That was all she asked.
Instead of answering, Hassan flipped his hand over, wrapping his long fingers firmly around her wrist, and pulled her toward the elevators.
He brushed past Gardenia like a cold gust of wind, the sheer indifference making her take a step back. "Are you just going to leave me here alone?"
The man didn't spare her a single glance. "Jacob is still here," he replied flatly.
The elevator doors slid shut. Natalie glared at him. "What was so secretive that you had to change locations to talk about it?"
His elegant finger pressed the button for the basement parking garage before he bothered to reply. "I never said I was going to tell you."
