Hassan raised his eyes and looked at him. "What are you stressed about?"
Jude let out a bitter laugh. "Are you the only one allowed to have problems? No one else can?"
Hassan lowered his gaze. "Just surprised you'd actually have something bothering you. You don't have to worry about family business, the wife you hated is out of the picture, and even with her changing her last name, the Sheridan family can't do anything to stop you. So what's the problem?"
Jude's fingers tightened around his glass in absolute silence.
Hassan didn't pry further; he just kept throwing back one drink after another.
Jude watched him drink like he had a death wish, genuinely shocked. Hassan was never a heavy drinker and had always been extremely disciplined when it came to alcohol and tobacco.
Seeing him like this was a first.
Jude leaned back lazily, crossing his legs as he studied the man. "Don't tell me Gardenia dumped you, and you're this wrecked over it. No way. From what I saw, she's obsessed with you. Definitely deeper feelings than she ever had for her ex-husband."
Hassan's gaze snapped up. "You know Gardenia's ex-husband?"
Jude scoffed. "Of course I do. Why, you interested in him?"
"Tell me about him," the man demanded, his voice flat.
Jude raised an eyebrow, a flicker of genuine surprise crossing his rugged face. "Since when did you become so basic? You actually care about an ex? I never saw you give a damn about Natalie's exes."
The air in the room seemed to freeze for several seconds.
Hassan's voice dropped dangerously low. "Natalie has an ex?"
Jude burst out laughing at the reaction, throwing his head back until he was practically out of breath. "Hahahaha! You seriously didn't know? You didn't know she had a massive crush on Finn? You know, Lemuel Steele's student."
"Based on what."
"I saw them doing homework together at a coffee shop once. They were super cozy, and Natalie's face and ears were bright red." Seeing Hassan's expression growing darker by the second, Jude found the whole thing highly entertaining and kept adding fuel to the fire. "And get this, they were sharing the exact same dessert. Dipping the same spoon into the cake, putting it in their mouths... It's basically an indirect kiss. Young kids love playing those little flirty games."
Heavy breathing filled the private room.
