Hearing Jude's words, Hassan's brisk footsteps ground to a sudden halt. He turned and shot him a dark look.
Jude widened his eyes, slapping a hand over his mouth. "Did I just piss you off again? I'm only stating facts!"
Hassan looked down, his voice barely above a whisper. "She stopped caring about me a long time ago."
Jude looked surprised. "Seriously? Well then, good for Natalie. I respect that clarity."
Another lethal glare sliced through him. Hassan didn't waste another breath on him; he just walked out and got into his waiting car.
As the driver pulled away, Hassan sat in the back seat, massaging his temples. He had thrown the liquor back too fast, and a headache was already pounding.
The alcohol was hitting him hard. He pulled out his phone, scrolled for a second, and dialed a number.
When the call connected, a woman's voice came through. "What do you want?"
He genuinely didn't know if he should be thanking her for actually answering his call.
He didn't even know why he had dialed. There were a million things he wanted to say, yet absolutely nothing that he could articulate.
"What are you doing?" he forced out awkwardly.
There was silence on Natalie's end for a few seconds.
She was currently at the Thornton residence. She desperately needed to find out which hospital she had been treated at when she suffered her traumatic memory loss.
Hassan's call had caught her off guard. She thought he had some kind of emergency, but instead, he was just making pointless small talk.
Just as she was about to hang up, a glass vase was violently hurled directly at her. Reacting with lightning speed, Natalie dodged, but the vase still violently grazed the back of the hand holding her phone before crashing to the floor.
*CRASH!*
The deafening sound of shattering glass tore through the phone's speaker. Natalie's phone tumbled onto the sofa as she stared furiously at the person across the room.
Tobias and Yelena's youngest son stood on the staircase, glaring at Natalie with pure venom.
He was the one who had thrown it.
