Hassan said evenly, "No one is stopping you."
Natalie didn't reply. She glanced around the room. "Where's my cardigan?"
Hassan remembered the knit cardigan that had been dragged across the floor until it was ruined. He pointed toward the window facing south. "The maids threw it out. It was ruined."
"How could it be ruined just like that?" Natalie froze, suddenly wrapping her arms around herself. "What did you do?"
The man, who was covered in injuries and hurting with every breath, darkened his expression.
Natalie belatedly realized her mistake. She didn't press about the cardigan. "Forget it, I don't want it."
Hassan stopped her again. "The temperature dropped outside. Put on the coat by the door."
Natalie glanced at the coat rack by the door. A men's black overcoat hung there.
She knew it was freezing outside, so she didn't politely decline and wrapped the coat around herself. "You ruined my cardigan, and I'm wearing your coat. We're even."
Hassan scoffed. "In your world, is it a crime not to be 'even'?"
Natalie didn't respond, pulling the suit jacket tight around her as she walked right out.
On her way out, she ran into Augustus. She nodded slightly, maintaining polite courtesy.
Augustus didn't comment on her attire. He handed her a business card. "Do you know this man?"
Natalie stared at the name Gideon Lennox printed on the card, freezing on the spot.
Seeing her reaction, Augustus knew she did. He said, "This man might be connected to your grandmother's disappearance."
Natalie looked up in disbelief. "He's connected to her disappearance? But... why? My grandmother has absolutely no connection to him."
"You think she doesn't, but do you know everything about your grandmother? Can you be completely sure?" Augustus challenged her.
Natalie opened her mouth to argue that it was impossible for the two to be connected.
