After Chloe’s sharp rebuke, Lexi fell silent, her head bowed, motionless.
Just then, Jamie's voice echoed through the hall. “Aaron, bring him in.”
With a respectful nod, Aaron hurried out of the room. A few minutes later, he returned with several bodyguards, escorting the man they had previously detained.
Suzie recognized him immediately. It was the man from the photos, the one who had made the deal with Josie. So Aaron had him in custody? It seemed Jamie had already unraveled the plot to frame her.
Suzie remained still, watching as Aaron took a stack of photos from a bag on the table and showed them to the man.
“Repeat what you told us before,” Aaron commanded. “Who hired you, and what did they instruct you to do? Tell us everything.”
The man’s shifty eyes darted around the room before he spoke, his voice trembling with fear. “It was…” He hesitated as his gaze met Chloe’s, then quickly shifted to Lexi. He pointed a finger at her. “It was her! She paid me to pretend to be a photographer and buy Mirage Studio's data from Josie. She gave me two hundred thousand in total. Then she forced me to pressure Josie into framing someone named Suzie. That’s all.”
Aaron frowned, about to speak, but Jamie cut him off. “Aaron, go and get the police.”
Recalling Lexi’s earlier hesitation, where she had almost admitted Chloe had goaded her, and her subsequent look of shock, it was clear something was amiss.
If Suzie’s analysis was correct, the mastermind had to be Chloe, and Lexi was merely her accomplice.
As she pieced it all together, Suzie felt a wave of frustration. She had no proof. Her deductions, however logical, were just speculation and would never hold up.
