“Mr. Baylor, our Ms. Vance is this busy every day. Perhaps you’d like to wait in the meeting room? I can get you a cup of coffee…” the receptionist offered again.
Before she could finish, Jamie strode past her into the office.
The bodyguards who followed him immediately closed the door, stationing themselves on either side of it with their arms crossed.
The receptionist watched the scene, wondering if this was really about a contract or if he was here to collect a debt. Had Stella somehow offended Jamie Baylor? Shaking her head, she glanced back one last time before returning to her desk.
Inside the office, Jamie sat down on the sofa, crossing his long legs and leaning back. He watched Stella with a cold, solemn gaze.
Stella, having already anticipated his arrival, finished her call and hung up the phone.
Mirroring his posture, she leaned back in her chair and said casually, “Well, this is a surprise. What brings our almighty CEO here?”
Jamie’s brow furrowed. “Stella, if you don’t want a taste of life behind bars, you’ll hand Suzie over right now.”
Stella let out a cold laugh and slowly rose from her chair. She walked around her desk and leaned against it, her tone nonchalant. “Those kinds of threats might work on children, Jamie, but I’m not falling for it.”
