Aaron glanced down at his phone and advised, “Shouldn’t we wait for Mr. Baylor to come out?”
Martha nodded. With nothing else to do, she stood beside Aaron and waited.
Just as she settled, the sound of things being smashed and thrown echoed from within the study.
The two exchanged stunned glances. Martha lowered her voice, asking Aaron with a tremor of fear, “Mr. Baylor has never broken anything before. What’s going on?”
Aaron’s mind raced through the possibilities. Could it be because of the DNA test? But that was the second one! Could it be that…

She was genuinely worried about Suzie. Where could a pregnant woman go all by herself? The Sterling family was no help at all. How would Suzie manage on her own?
Feeling a pang of sadness, Martha figured she could give Jamie the phone she was holding for Ruby anytime. After chatting with Aaron for a few more moments, she headed downstairs.
Aaron remained outside the study, waiting for Jamie's orders. But in the end, all he received was a short text message: “You can go home.”
