Lionel glanced at a nearby chair and calmly walked over to sit down. “Since you don’t seem to know, why don’t I help you connect the dots?”

Margaret held her breath, her mind a tangled mess. But she maintained a facade of indifference, waiting for him to speak.

Soon enough, Lionel pointed to the photo wall and spoke again. “Where is your other daughter?”

Margaret followed his finger to the photos. She had never hung a single picture of Suzie, only shots of Stewart, Ruby, and the rest of their family.

Her other daughter?! How did he know about another daughter? Was he talking about Suzie?

“What other daughter?” Margaret retorted coldly. “I have fraternal twins. Their pictures are right there on the wall, aren’t they?”

“Is that so…” Lionel drew out the words, his gaze sweeping over the small home with unconcealed disdain. “Then why did my investigation show that you have an older daughter?”

Margaret’s heart lurched again. This man had investigated her so thoroughly? He had clearly come prepared.

As she stood there, stunned, her arms were suddenly twisted behind her back and restrained. David, who had been silent all this time, was seized as well.

“What are you doing?!” Margaret asked, her voice trembling.
