The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 266

As she cried, Margaret suddenly froze. She grabbed David’s arm, her eyes wide with shock.

“David, wait a minute, that’s not right. The family we swapped with… their name wasn’t Lockwood. Before they went abroad, we even secretly went to the airport to watch them leave. The father wasn't this Lionel guy. So why is he showing up now, asking for a daughter?”

David’s brow furrowed deeply at her words. “That’s true… I’ve been wondering the same thing.”

Margaret wiped her tears, her voice urgent again. “We can’t worry about that now. We need to figure out what to do tomorrow. He said he’s coming back, didn’t he? What are we going to do?”

David thought for a moment. “What if we send Stewart and Ruby abroad early? Then we could go hide out in the countryside for a while. As for Suzie…”

“Hide? Hide where? Are you just going to abandon your company? Do you want us to ever live a normal life again?” Margaret cut him off sharply.

Sighing, David helped her steady herself. “Then you tell me. What should we do? Besides, our daughter is all grown up. She’s had a good life. Haven’t you ever thought about bringing her back?”

Margaret looked at him, horrified. “Bring her back?! David! Swapping babies is a crime! We’d go to jail! How could we possibly admit it? And then there’s that little witch, Suzie… No, David, we have to do something. Lionel will be a constant problem if he keeps showing up. We need to act now, before he has any real proof.”

David stared at her, his expression tight with worry. “Don’t you go doing anything illegal again…”

She shot him a fierce glare. “I won’t! Tomorrow, you’ll take Stewart and Ruby to the airport first. After that, just play along with me.”

“What are you planning?” David asked, still uneasy. “You have to give me a hint. I can’t just go along with it blindly.”

Margaret’s eyes scanned him, a vicious glint slowly appearing in their depths. She gritted her teeth. “To get rid of this disaster, Suzie has to disappear. Without any evidence, no one can touch me.”
