The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 305

Terrified by the sudden screaming, Zoey scrambled to bury her face back into Suzie's chest.

Suzie gently rubbed the little girl's back to soothe her. Once she was calm, Suzie slowly rose to her feet, handing the children off to Mia and Hayden.

Suzie took a slow, deliberate step toward Myron's wife. The woman instinctively shrank back from the sheer lethality in Suzie's eyes, violently elbowing her husband in the ribs for backup.

"He goes around pinching little girls and lying to his teachers. Tell me, how exactly are you raising your child?"

Suzie demanded, her voice an absolute glacial calm as she stared the woman down.

"Watch your mouth! Oh, so you just listen to your little brats' version of the story and treat it as gospel? Kids lie, you know! Just because your daughter has a red mark on her arm doesn't mean my son did it! Do you have proof?"

Myron's wife bellowed indignantly, jabbing her finger aggressively in the air.

Beside her, Myron frantically tugged at her arm, trying to get her to shut up.

Seeing the situation escalating, the principal finally nervously interjected.

"I apologize. If I may just say a word. Both families are part of our preschool community, and the children share a classroom. They're still so young. Let's try to discuss this civilly so we don't frighten them. Shall we?"

A tense beat of silence fell over the room following the principal's plea.

Suzie stood perfectly straight, shifting her tone to a much gentler register as she looked directly at Myron's son.

"Sweetheart, why don't you tell us what happened?"

The little boy took one look at Suzie and immediately cowered behind his mother's legs.

That was all it took for his mother to explode all over again.

"You have quite the temper, ma'am. We were just having a conversation. Was there really a need to get physical?"

His voice carried no real heat, sounding as though he were merely commenting on the weather. As he spoke, his eyes darted nervously over to Hayden.

Hayden, who had remained entirely silent up until this point, stood leaning against the wall with his hands shoved casually in his pockets. However, the lethally protective aura radiating from him screamed a very clear message: I dare you to try and touch her.

A cold sweat of anxiety broke out on the back of Myron's neck as he calculated the situation.

He knew one undeniable fact: he could not afford to offend them. Even if his wife had just taken a drink to the face, he absolutely could not escalate this conflict.

Unfortunately, his wife violently smacked his hand away, screeching at the top of her lungs.

"Myron! Are you seriously standing up for me with that pathetic, limp tone? I bet this little tramp has already seduced you! Have you completely lost your mind? You are the CEO of a major entertainment company, and you're just going to stand here and watch some bitch bully your wife and son!"
