The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 330

She pressed her lips together and met the question head-on. "Yes. The three babies you tried so desperately to get rid of. They survived. And they are perfectly healthy and incredibly sweet."

With her final word, she aimed a look of absolute, bone-chilling resentment at him.

Jamie swallowed hard.

The hand resting on her waist went rigid, frozen in place.

Holding his gaze, she continued ruthlessly. "I've answered your questions. Now, Mr. Baylor, are you quite finished? My husband and children are waiting for me at home."

His eyes lingered on her beautiful face, and the faintest trace of a smirk touched the corner of his mouth.

Leaning in close to her ear, his long fingers trailed down her cheek. "Is that so?" he whispered huskily. "What exactly do you think your 'husband' would say if he found out his wife was sitting on another man's lap in a dark garage, letting him thoroughly kiss her?"

Suzie's breath hitched.

She immediately scrambled to get off him, but his muscular arms banded around her like iron cables. "If I hadn't come hunting for you, you really would have kept running forever, wouldn't you?"

He locked her against his chest, savoring her frantic heartbeat and the intoxicating warmth of her body.

Murmuring against her temple, he swept a stray lock of hair behind her ear. His gaze trailed downward, catching the slight gap in the collar of her silk blouse.

The sight of her luminous skin sent a jolt straight to his groin, making him swallow thickly.

Trapped on top of him, Suzie could feel exactly what her proximity was doing to him.

He was fully aroused.

A mortifying wave of heat crashed over her, painting her cheeks a deep, furious crimson.

Unable to break free, she snapped her face away so he couldn't see how flustered she was.

Noticing her reaction, Jamie's smirk widened into something thoroughly wicked.

Stumbling out into the cool garage air, she hastily smoothed down her clothes. It was only then that she realized the top two buttons of her blouse had been completely unfastened during the scuffle.

She froze in sheer disbelief.

Meanwhile, Jamie remained comfortably slouched in the backseat. One arm rested casually on the center console while the other draped over the open window frame.

His dark eyes watched with lazy amusement as her trembling fingers struggled to re-button her shirt.

Catching his heated stare from her peripheral vision, she quickly turned away, securing her blouse. She shot him one last icy glare. "I am telling you this for the very last time, Jamie. We have absolutely nothing to do with each other. It's been that way for years. Do yourself a favor and stay away from me."

After throwing him one final, withering look, she turned on her heel and marched rapidly toward the elevator, never looking back.

From inside the car, Jamie watched her through the tinted glass. His eyes stayed glued to her stubbornly retreating figure until she vanished completely from sight.

He remained completely still, staring blankly out at the quiet parking garage for several minutes. Finally, he pulled out his phone, opened an app, and sent a curt voice note. "Get down here and drive."
