The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 331

Aaron hurried down the corridor and jogged over to the waiting car.

He pulled open the door, slid into the driver's seat, and twisted his body to face the back. "Mr. Baylor, how did it go?"

"What do you think?" Jamie replied. His tone was icy as he scrolled through his phone.

Aaron gave a quick, encouraging nod. His optimism was cut short when Jamie spoke again.

"She has been hiding for years. Did you really think she was going to talk to me?"

Aaron fell silent for a moment.

He let out an awkward cough, sensing the biting sarcasm in his boss's voice. He cleared his throat. "Don't worry, Mr. Baylor. I will help you figure this out."

"What do you know about women?" Jamie did not even bother looking up from his screen.

Aaron swallowed hard.

He decided to take a massive risk. "Mr. Baylor, for starters, you could try changing the way you speak to her."

He had barely finished his sentence when Jamie raised his head. His dark, narrowed eyes practically screamed danger.

Aaron scrambled to clarify. "I just mean, when you talk to your wife, you could try being a little gentler."

Jamie frowned. A fleeting, almost imperceptible softness flashed through his otherwise cold gaze.

He stayed quiet for a moment before deliberately changing the subject. "The car she was driving. Did you run the plates and check the registration?"

Aaron sneaked a cautious glance at his boss. "I did. It is registered to Hayden."

"Hayden." Jamie rubbed the spot between his brows. He muttered to himself, "Are we sure it is the same Hayden who owns Timefly Studio?"

Aaron's heart pounded against his ribs. Over the past few days of relentless investigation, he felt like he had stumbled onto a world-shattering secret.

But he didn't dare breathe a word of it yet. He simply nodded with absolute respect. "Yes, Mr. Baylor."

Jamie smoothed the cuffs of his crisp dress shirt. "Keep digging."

"Understood, Mr. Baylor. I will compile all the findings and email them to your personal account by tomorrow."

Aaron started the engine and steered the car smoothly toward the exit.

Just as they emerged from the underground garage, Jamie's voice drifted from the backseat again. "Does she live here? Which floor?"

Aaron's palms instantly grew slick with sweat against the leather steering wheel. He already knew the exact floor.

He also knew the penthouse was registered in Hayden's name. If Jamie found out, all hell would break loose.

What man bought a woman a luxury sports car and a massive, multimillion-dollar penthouse unless they were intimately involved?

Suzie let out a frustrated groan. She splashed water over her face, desperate to scrub the sensations away.

It was just a momentary lapse in judgment.

Her immediate reaction had been to wipe her mouth in disgust. That was the truth.

If she felt anything at all, it was just the basic biological response of a normal adult woman reacting to unexpected physical contact.

No matter how many times the scene replayed in her head, there was absolutely no way she still had feelings for him.

By the time she stepped out of the bathroom, the nannies had already retired to their rooms.

Suzie padded softly into the nursery. A warm, genuine smile finally touched her lips when she saw the children sleeping soundly in their beds.

Between helping Stella organize Oliver's mother's funeral, she had barely spent any time with them over the past few days.

With the weekend approaching and her new filming schedule picking up, her time with them was only going to shrink.

Suzie gently stroked each of their little heads, pressing a soft kiss to their foreheads.

If the day ever came when Jamie discovered the truth and tried to take them from her, would she be strong enough to fight him off?

Leaning against the edge of the crib, Suzie let out an uncontrollable sigh. Tears pricked the corners of her eyes.
