The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 344

"Lean back. You're blocking the rearview mirror," Suzie commanded, shooting him a look of pure disgust.

Chester went completely silent.

Ripped right out of his romantic fantasy, a wave of awkwardness washed over his face. Despite his wounded pride, he dutifully flipped the mirror shut and obediently pressed his back flat against the leather seat. He never thought he'd see the day he let a woman bark orders at him like a disobedient child.

After about half an hour of driving, they finally arrived at their destination: Chaim Cosmetic Clinic.

Suzie smoothly parked the car and gazed out through the windshield. Situated right in the bustling downtown core, the standalone building towered over the street. The modern architectural marvel featured a brilliant white, tiered structure that tapered elegantly as it reached for the sky. As the premier aesthetic clinic in Mornhaven, the sheer grandeur of the place was undeniably impressive.

Pulling her gaze away, she formulated her plan before slowly speaking up. "Whether or not we can uncover Suzanne's secrets in there depends entirely on you, Mr. Lambert. Do you have any close connections inside?"

She had purposely held off on having Peter run a background check. She wanted to scope the place out first. Without elite status or an insider connection, marching right into a highly confidential medical facility and demanding answers would result in absolute failure.

Following her line of sight, Chester stared at the imposing clinic and gave a firm nod. "I'm not familiar with this specific spot, but I remember one of my dad's executives mentioning a relative who works here. Give me a minute to make a few calls."

"I appreciate it," she murmured, killing the engine and stepping out of the car.

A short while later, Chester emerged as well. He strolled over to where she was leaning against the sleek exterior of the vehicle, flashing a triumphant smile. "Let's go. I just got us an appointment with one of their top directors."

Suzie raised an eyebrow, offering him a silent thumbs-up.

"A smile would be a much better reward than a thumbs-up, you know," he teased.

She merely rolled her eyes and headed straight for the grand entrance.

The office was exceptionally spacious and lavish. A man in a tailored white coat, Dr. Solomon, rose from his desk and graciously offered them a seat.

Glancing at Suzie, who remained silent, Chester addressed the man directly. "Did my father personally call you?" He wanted to test the waters to see if the doctor knew exactly who he was dealing with, allowing him to strategize his approach.

"My brother informed me," Dr. Solomon replied immediately, his tone bordering on reverent. "He's one of your father's executives. It is an absolute honor to host you here, sir." He stepped forward, eagerly extending his hand. Chester smiled confidently and accepted the handshake.

Perfect. The guy was laying it on thick with the flattery. Chester finally felt fully in control of the situation.

He turned back to Suzie, shooting her a knowing look to let her know she was safe to ask whatever she wanted.

Catching his drift, she slipped on a polite, practiced smile and reached out to shake Dr. Solomon's hand.
