Suzie explained the situation to the doctor and eagerly asked about her concerns regarding the bacteria.

The doctor thought she was making a mountain out of a molehill, assuring her that after applying some antiseptic and dressing the wound, she would be perfectly fine.

Finally relieved, Suzie immediately felt irritated again, realizing Jamie had deliberately tricked her.

Mia peeked through a small gap in the curtain. Seeing no sign of Jamie, she whispered,

"Suzie, I was holding my breath that whole ride. You scared the life out of me earlier! I can't believe you fought back. If Mr. Baylor hadn't shown up to save us, I don't even want to think about what would've happened. If they had dragged us into that van... ugh..."

Mia shuddered at the thought.

Listening to Mia's description, Suzie felt a wave of delayed fear wash over her. The consequences truly would have been unimaginable.

After a sobering moment of silence, Mia finally voiced her curiosity:

"By the way, Suzie... was that guy on the ground really your brother?"

Seeing that the doctor had finished bandaging her arm, Suzie stood up with a heavy sigh.

She didn't know how to explain her past with the Sterling family to Mia. After a moment of silence, she said softly,

"Not a biological brother. I'll explain it all to you later."

Mia nodded repeatedly and added,

"Suzie, in the car earlier, I noticed Mr. Baylor had blood spots on his knuckles. Like he got them from punching someone, or maybe his own hand was cut."

As they walked out from behind the curtain, Suzie said flatly,

"Even if he saved us, I don't want anything to do with him. When you go drop off the money for Stewart's medical bills with Aaron tomorrow, buy a box of band-aids for that Baylor guy while you're at it. We shouldn't seem ungrateful, right?"

Mia was utterly speechless.

A domineering CEO gets injured saving them, and compensation for his efforts is... a box of band-aids.

"Oh..."

Jamie watched with deep, dark eyes as the two women walked right past him. His gaze remained locked on Suzie. His lips parted slightly, but he didn't say a word.

He watched until they were out of sight before slowly heading outside.

By the car in the parking lot, Aaron was already waiting. Seeing Jamie approach, he hurried forward to report:

"Mr. Baylor, I've arranged a caretaker for Stewart and notified his family."

Jamie hummed in acknowledgment. "What exactly did Suzie say to you on the phone?"

"Mr. Baylor, please get in," Aaron said, opening the door respectfully before replying,

"She instructed me not to tell Stewart that I saw her, and she sounded very serious about it. Other than that, nothing much."
