Just as Myron straightened up, Aaron stepped closer and muttered, "I didn't say you could leave. Go wait at the booth over there. The doctor will be here shortly."
Myron didn't hesitate for a second, nodding furiously in total submission. "Of course, of course. Thank you, Aaron."
Once Myron dragged Larissa off to a corner booth, Aaron discreetly waved the remaining bodyguards further back. That left only Jamie, Suzie, Stella, and Lexi in the immediate vicinity.
Suzie sized up Lexi, who was still standing awkwardly to the side, though her peripheral vision occasionally flicked toward Jamie. He didn't seem the least bit bothered by her public rejection and had casually taken a seat on the opposite end of the sofa.
Stella was fully committed to playing the oblivious bystander, alternating between snacking on fruit and pastries from the table.
Then, Jamie broke the silence. His voice was cold, entirely directed at Lexi. "Tell me exactly what Chloe made you do back then."
Earlier, Lexi hadn't been sure whose side to take. Now, it was glaringly obvious. If Jamie could tolerate Suzie treating him like dirt in public, she clearly held immense weight in his heart. Back in the day, Chloe would never have dared pull a stunt like that. To put it nicely, Chloe acted cute and clingy; to put it bluntly, she was a total sycophant.
Lexi smoothed down her messy hair, took a deep breath, and let a flicker of remorse show in her eyes. "Years ago, when Suzie was just a junior intern at Mirage Studio, she turned me down for a project. I felt humiliated. I mentioned it to Chloe, and she gave me the idea to force my assistant to intimidate her, hoping it would scare her into quitting. That was the first thing."
Frowning and looking the picture of regret, she added, "As for why I took the fall for all of it..."
Her eyes grew red as she put on a pitiful display, recounting how Chloe had threatened and manipulated her into taking the blame.
Suzie listened to all the justifications without saying a word. Yes, she had given Lexi the invitation card to play the long game, hoping to eventually unearth the truth. But she never expected it to fall into her lap so quickly, let alone have Jamie acting as the "interrogator."
At this point, the whole setup felt like a theatrical performance directed entirely by him.
