"Yes, Ms. Sterling," Mia replied. Just as she took a step, Suzie spoke again. "Wait a moment."
After stopping Mia, Suzie turned to Lydia and said coolly, "Why don't you go with them? Otherwise, if my staff finds it, you might accuse us of only bringing it out because we were afraid of the situation escalating."
Lydia shot Suzie a vicious glare but stayed rooted to the spot.
The corners of Suzie's lips curled up slightly as she continued, "It seems you don't genuinely want to find the watch, Ms. Lynn. But your intention to cause trouble is quite obvious."
"You! Fine, I'll go! I don't freaking believe this. I've already searched eight times and found nothing!" Lydia stomped her feet, screeching a few more curses before following Mia down to the basement.
Suzie watched them leave with a frosty gaze. Only after their backs disappeared did she walk over to Cora.
As soon as Suzie stood in front of her, Cora frantically grabbed the hem of Suzie's blouse, crying, "Ms. Sterling, I really didn't steal it. You have to believe me. You can search my locker and my bag, or you can call the police."
Suzie looked at Cora's tear-stained face, noting the bright red handprint on her cheek. She sighed softly, took Cora's hand, patted it, and said gently, "Rest for a bit. I'll make her apologize and pay for that slap. I'm going down to take a look first."
When Suzie arrived in the basement, the group was searching everywhere.
It was a small suite; the entrance led into a makeup room, and inside that was a door leading to the dressing room.
Just as Suzie reached the door, the group walked out of the inner dressing room.
Mia shook her head silently. Lydia shot Suzie a look of pure contempt and sneered, "Found it? Where is it? I see what kind of boss you are. Pay me back for my watch!"
Suzie walked slowly into the room, ignoring Lydia.
