"Where exactly are you? What's happening inside?! Tell me right now!"
"There's... there's a fight. Someone's bleeding on the floor. It doesn't look like a robbery. I'm... I'm at the very back of the store, behind the last row of shelves."
Suzie's voice shook violently as horrific news headlines about mass casualties flashed through her mind.
Jamie's voice turned incredibly sharp and focused. "Look around the back. Are there any other doors?"
Suzie scrambled to the opposite end of the aisle. "Yes! There's a warehouse, a locker room, a break room, and a restroom."
"Get in the restroom and lock the door! Do it now!"
Her mind entirely blank with terror, Suzie didn't hesitate for a split second. She bolted into the restroom, slammed the door, and threw the deadbolt.
Even through the solid door, she could hear the horrifying sounds of shattering glass, screaming, and heavy thuds. Her heart hammered against her ribs like a trapped bird.
Jamie's voice came through the speaker again, remarkably steady. "Do not panic. I am figuring this out. Listen to me: no matter who knocks, do not open that door. If you start to smell smoke, soak your clothes in the sink and cover your nose and mouth. Wet whatever towels or rags are in there and jam them under the door gap. Then turn on every single faucet."
