The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 594

Jamie took Suzie's silence as a silent agreement.

A faint, satisfied smile touched the corner of his lips. He would take it slow. He would slowly inch closer, slowly prove his devotion, until one day, she finally returned to his arms.

After driving for a while, Jamie broke the silence, his tone soft.

"Did the kids go through a phase where they refused to eat too? Is that why you knew exactly what was wrong with Pip?"

Suzie didn't answer. Raising kids came with endless hurdles. Every parent bent over backward trying to ensure their child had a healthy diet; a kid who ate well on their own was considered an absolute blessing.

As she stared out the window, remembering all the exhausting nights and sacrifices of raising her children, the car suddenly pulled over to the side of the road.

Before Suzie could ask what was going on, Jamie turned to face her. His eyes were dark and complex.

"Suzie, these past few years... you've worked so hard."

Worked so hard?

Those words were a severe understatement for everything a single mother went through. The sheer exhaustion, the endless days and nights—no one could truly understand it unless they had raised children themselves.

"It was nothing. Let's go," Suzie replied coldly, turning her gaze back to the window and slowly closing her eyes.

Jamie watched her quietly in the rearview mirror for a long moment before putting the car back in drive.

After a long silence, Suzie murmured, her voice so light she sounded like she was talking to herself. "Did you bring me there just to show me what a compassionate, charitable man you are?"

She had heard rumors over the years that he was heavily involved in philanthropy, but she had never heard of him actually visiting orphanages in person.
