The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 614

Ignoring Hayden's final jab, Jamie was perfectly satisfied with that answer. Crushing out his cigarette, he said, "Leak the truth to Lionel Lockwood. Let him be the one to tear the band-aid off. As for the fallout, your family will just have to weather the storm."

Hayden nodded thoughtfully. Then, a sudden realization hit him. "Wait, why are you even here this late? We just had dinner together."

"Suzie won't be able to sleep tonight," Jamie replied softly.

Hayden's expression grew complicated. While the outcome was a blessing, the truth was a heavy burden that everyone involved would need time to accept.

Still, a broad grin spread across his face. He was thrilled. He had always treated Suzie like a sister, and now she actually was one!

But his smile vanished as quickly as it appeared, replaced by dark fury. "Those bastards from the Sterling family," he snarled through gritted teeth. "I'm going to make them pay in blood."

"I was thinking the exact same thing," Jamie agreed.

As they stepped out of the stairwell, Hayden sighed, adopting a mockingly pleading tone. "Listen, my future brother-in-law. I need to talk to Suzie alone tonight. How about you come find her tomorrow?"

Jamie raised an eyebrow. "I strongly dislike that title. Request denied."

Hayden closed his eyes in exasperation. After a long pause, he forced the words out through his teeth.

"My esteemed brother-in-law."

Jamie grinned, flashed an 'OK' sign, and headed toward the elevator.

...

The next morning.

Suzie was busy at the studio when her phone rang. It was an unknown number.
