The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 615

"If you're worried," Mia suggested, "why don't you just give Mr. Baylor a heads-up?"

Suzie thought for a moment before saying distractedly, "No. I don't want to see her, and I don't need to."

She scrolled through her call log, found Jamie's number, and fired off a text message.

"Your mother wants to meet. I have no intention of going. And for the hundredth time, Jamie, we are not getting back together. Stop wasting your time."

The moment the text went through, Jamie called.

Suzie declined it. He called again, and she declined it again. Seconds later, a text popped up.

"My mom probably just misses you. Don't overthink it. If you don't want to see her, don't. I'll talk to her."

Suzie rolled her eyes.

That smooth-talking bastard.

Missed her? Right. She was obviously looking for a fight!

Muttering a few choice curses under her breath, Suzie forced herself to get back to work.

Around 1:00 PM, Suzie and Mia were in the office eating takeout lunches when the glass door was abruptly pushed open.

Suzie looked up. The piece of broccoli dangling from her mouth dropped onto her plate in pure shock.

Standing in the doorway was Jamie's mother, Celia Miller.

She was dressed in a vintage-inspired, elegant formal dress. Her hair was pinned into an immaculate updo, secured with a jade hairpin that swayed elegantly with her every movement. She radiated wealth and superiority.
