Suzie sat there in a daze, her eyes blankly fixed on the floor, feeling an overwhelming sense of exhaustion.
Years ago, all she had wanted was to marry the man she loved, have a child, and live a quiet, peaceful life. Instead, an outsider had completely ruined everything. Just how desperately did Chloe want Jamie to go to such lengths to tear them apart?
"Suzie?" a gentle voice broke through her thoughts.
She slowly looked up and saw Hayden standing there. But right beside him was Jamie. Jamie gave her a deep, meaningful look before walking over to the officer's desk.
"Are you alright? What happened?" Hayden asked, wrapping a protective arm around her shoulders while glancing at the weeping woman on the floor.
Suzie pulled herself together, her voice laced with fatigue. "I'm fine. Can we leave now?"
"He's sorting out the paperwork. We should be good to go in a minute."
"Okay..."
Noticing how traumatized Suzie looked, Hayden looked back at the kneeling woman. "What exactly is going on here?"
Meeting his gaze, she murmured, "I'll tell you once we get outside."
Just then, an officer hauled Cynthia to her feet. Realizing she was about to be taken away to a holding cell, she pressed her palms together, pleading desperately with Suzie. "Please help me! I'm begging you!"
The next second, she was escorted out of the lobby.
