Julian felt completely satisfied. The woman he had been burning to possess was finally in his arms. Just days ago, she had been resisting him with everything she had, yet here she was, pliant and submissive against him. Any man would feel a surge of triumph.
In the dim light, Julian admired the woman in his embrace under the moonlight, a faint smirk playing on his lips before he finally closed his eyes.
Surprisingly, he dreamt—though it wasn't a pleasant one. He dreamed that Clara had left him and married... Dominic!
The image of their sweet, intimate affection was blindingly painful.
"Clara!"
Julian jerked awake, his handsome face slightly pale. He instinctively reached for the space beside him, only to find the sheets cool.
Clara was gone.
Frowning, Julian heard a faint noise coming from the bathroom. He rolled out of bed with practiced agility and headed over to find her.
Pushing open the glass door,
he saw Clara ironing his dress shirt.
The early morning light filtered sparsely through the window. The woman, makeup-free and slender in a light, snow-white robe, was looking down, carefully pressing his clothes. The domestic sweetness of the scene made his heart race.
Julian's gaze darkened significantly.
Hearing the door, Clara glanced up. Noticing his intense stare, her ears turned a shy shade of pink.
He hadn't brought any spare clothes with him yesterday. Since he was a neat freak and would absolutely hate wearing a wrinkled shirt from the night before, she decided to press it for him.
But as a woman with her pride, she certainly wasn't going to admit that out loud.
She lowered her eyes and murmured, "I didn't have much to do this morning, so I thought I'd iron this for you. I'm going to iron mine in a bit too... D-don't get the wrong idea. I'm not just doing this for you."
Julian's Adam's apple bobbed. He listened quietly to her little lie, noting the flush on her ears.
She probably didn't even realize that her ears turned red whenever she lied.
It was cute.
So cute it made him want to... Julian narrowed his eyes, stepping in close to wrap his arms around her from behind. He pressed a warm, lingering kiss to the pale skin of her nape, feeling her shudder beneath him. "Thank you," he murmured huskily. "I love it."
"When you weren't home, I couldn't get used to it."
"Please, don't ever leave again."
Clara's knees went weak from the seduction, almost dropping the iron. She bit her lip and gently nudged him with her elbow. "Alright, let me go first..."
Julian refused to let go. Holding her intimately, he let her continue her task and added, "If you want to spend time with your sister and nephew, stay a few more days. Let me know when you want to come back, and I'll pick you up. Whenever I have time, I'll come over and keep you company too."
Clara's heart skipped a beat, genuinely thrilled. She let out a soft, kitten-like hum of agreement...
