Too Late Alpha The Mate He Never Wanted (Iris and Eric) novel Chapter 84

Chapter 84

Iris’s POV

I bit my lip, my throat tight. “I’m sorry for going against your authority. This is not how I should repay you for everything you’ve done for me.”

Something flickered in his eye, but it wasn’t anger. Instead, his head tilted slightly.

“Then why do it?” He asked quietly, almost curiously.

I sighed. “Because I can’t stand injustice.” My voice cracked, but I pushed through. “I won’t just stand by and watch something unfair happen when I can stop it. I couldn’t.”

Rowan’s jaw flexed, his eyes darkening as he stared at me. “So you call what I do injustice?”

“Yes.” I said firmly. “You were about to beat him bloody for hesitating to intervene when Chloe cornered me, Rowan. The same Chloe who has been terrorizing everyone in this pack and I know you know it.”

“All I heard you say was that you would talk to her. That’s all. But Shane deserves to take the full punishment or everything.”

His eyes narrowed, but I didn’t stop.

“I know she’s your future Luna and all that. But it’s unfair for you to punish others, while turning a blind eye to her faults. Because it makes her even worse than she already is.”

I clenched my jaw.

“The last time we spoke about Chloe,” I said bitterly, “you made it sound like you were going

as a Luna. But she’s still here, using her future Luna title to hurt people. What kind of Alpha are you if you give this pack a Luna like her?”

to end things with because you had finally realized that she won’t be a good ouv

Rowan’s jaw tightened. “It’s not that simple, Iris Cutting Chloe off would cause problems in this pack that you won’t understand.”

I looked straight at him. “So would you rather she keep making things worse in this pack? Tell me, Rowan. Is that what an Alpha does? Or are you just afraid of what will happen if you deal with her?”

His eyes flashed. “Are you calling me a coward?” He asked, his voice dangerously low.

My heart was pounding in my chest, but I met his eyes. “I didn’t say that. You did.”

He growled. “How dare you?! I am not a coward!”

“Then show me!” I snapped, stepping closer to me. “Show everyone! Because all I see is you letting her run wild while people are too afraid to stop her. What kind of Alpha lets that happen?”

Rowan’s eyes blazed with rage as he stood over me. I could feel the anger pouring out in waves. For a second, I thought he would actually snap and maybe punch me

He took a step closer. I refused to back away.

We were so close now that I had to tilt my head up to meet his eyes. His jaw was clenched tightly.

“You are playing a very dangerous game, Iris. Be very careful,” His voice was low and hoarse.

I lifted my chin in defiance. “Go ahead. I’ve told you several times, Rowan. I have nothing to lose.”
