Two Can Play (Celeste and Dominic) novel Chapter 536

When we came out of the fitness center, I showed Lucia the black card.

“I want to go shopping,” I said.

She gasped in excitement. “Let’s go.”

We went shopping together.

I bought all the dresses recommended by the fashion seduction class instructor for a start and also got many dresses I could choose from to attend the grand engagement ceremony Scarlett told me about.

When Lucia asked about the dresses, I told her about the engagement party of the man called Dominic Ford.

Lucia’s eyes widened. “He’s the richest man in the country,” she said. “I’d love to attend but my husband wasn’t invited.” She looked at me hopefully. “Can I attend with you?”

After considering it for a while, I shrugged. “Why not?”

Lucia clapped her hands. “Perfect.”

Then she asked, “Can you drive?”

“Yes,” I said, “but I lost possession of my license a long time ago.”

“I know someone at the license office,” Lucia said. “I’ll take you there so you can get a new copy.”

After getting the license from the office, Lucia suggested that I should buy a car of my own.

“It’s your husband’s money after all,” she added. “That way, you won’t have to use a cab every time you need to step out, like some poor street urchin.”

Once my brain got in tune with the idea, I felt excited because this was the first time I was going to own a car of my own.

We went to a luxury dealership and I chose a Porsche 911 Carrera in Guards Red. The car was low and sleek, with curves that looked like they’d been drawn by the wind. The interior smelled of new leather and polished wood. The salesman handed me the keys and I slid into the driver’s seat, my hands trembling on the steering wheel.

She sat back down and leaned forward. “If you ask me, it’s not a good idea for you to trust Scarlett completely. From what you've told me, everything you know about the past is mostly what Scarlett told you.”

I nodded. "Yeah."

“She met you at Big Bryan’s,” Lucia continued. “Even if she claimed she went there for your sake, she benefitted. She got paid. She was everyone’s favorite and even warmed Big Bryan’s bed and now, she is Sparrow’s favorite. She is the only one who really got it good in the end.”

I listened, my ice cream melting in the cup.

“The way I see it,” Lucia continued, “Scarlett is stringing you along as a charity case to make herself feel better. You may not even be related to her, and even if you are, it’s not a guarantee that she is true to you.”

She paused, then went on. “You’re the real victim here, Tasha. Scarlett has always had it easy and things have always gone her way, and now you’re the one suffering.”

I sighed. “I’ve thought of all of that, but it’s a fact that Scarlett saved me from the Hemovax poison. Even Sparrow’s doctor confirmed that I and the other two girls had been poisoned.”
