Two Can Play (Celeste and Dominic) novel Chapter 617

I laughed out loud, the sound startling in the quiet room. This way, I'd kill two birds with one stone. I'd hurt Celeste by destroying her brother even more, and I'd have someone to take care of me for the time being. A perfect place to hide. Even if Felix didn't have much, he could at least look after me until I was ready to make my move on Dominic.

But I had to wait until evening. I didn't have Felix's number anymore, and I knew he worked, so he was probably at work right now. I just hoped he still lived at the address he'd given me before I fell into Emerson's trap. If he had moved, the whole process would be that much harder.

When evening came, I packed every single thing I owned into my bags, ready to check out of the motel. Knowing Felix, I was sure he would never be able to turn me away. He had never been able to say no to me, not once, not ever.

I dressed carefully. Sexily. A little black dress that hugged every curve, my hair loose around my shoulders, just enough makeup to look like I hadn't tried. Then I took a cab to the address I remembered from our conversations.

When the cab pulled up in front of the apartment building, I smiled. The outside lights were on. He was home.

I paid the driver, hauled my luggage out of the trunk, and walked up to his door. I rang the doorbell and smoothed my dress, composing my face.

No response.

I waited a full minute, then rang again.

The door swung open, and there he was. Felix. Tall, in a T-shirt and shorts, looking healthier than I remembered him being. His hair was cut short, his shoulders broader, and for a second I almost didn't recognize him.
