My heart suddenly pounded so hard I was sure she could hear it. "It's probably the new perfume I bought," I said quickly. "As for the turtleneck, I just wanted to try something different this morning."
She nodded slowly. "Okay."
Then she lowered her voice. "What happened outside with Sparrow? Did he say or do anything to upset you?"
I chuckled, hoping it sounded light. "Of course not. He only gave me a lecture, reminding me that you're a patient and shouldn't be upset in any way."
She scoffed. "I'm not that fragile."
I smiled at her. "It seems Sparrow really cares about you. I think he has fallen in love with you, Scarlett."
A faint blush crept across her cheeks. I saw it, and I understood it. She knew about his feelings. And she probably felt the same way too.
I waited for the tightness in my chest, the familiar ache I'd carried since the wedding.
It didn't come.
I was convinced I'd fallen for Sparrow. When he asked me about my feelings outside, I'd told him what I believed he wanted to hear, and I'd thought I still felt something. But now, after confirming the feelings between Sparrow and Scarlett, I realized I wasn't mad. I didn't even feel jealous. All I felt was guilt toward Scarlett for the way I'd treated her.
What did this mean? And why had I thrown myself at Sparrow back then? I didn't understand my heart at all. But I was happy I didn't feel jealous. I didn't want to be that pathetic, especially if I could help it.
Sparrow's words outside had filled me with so much relief and hope. I had felt like I was between the devil and the deep blue sea. But now, all I had to do was wait two weeks. It was very possible that Sparrow would destroy Big Bryan without him or Scarlett ever finding out what Big Bryan had done to me.
I was already tainted. What else could Big Bryan do that would be as bad as the horrors I'd experienced last night? I just had to quietly bear everything until Big Bryan's time was up. And it would be better if Scarlett stayed in the hospital during this time. That way, she wouldn't find out the truth or even suspect that something was wrong.
I glanced at the food by Scarlett's side. "You should eat."

The readers' comments on the novel: Two Can Play (Celeste and Dominic)
Agent Frost better teach Tasha how to protect herself if anything gets out of hand or if she’s ever in danger or forced again...
I need some good news for Tasha. Special Agent hear her out and don’t let her get back into that life. Do I hear a romance or someone Tasha can truly count on besides Scarlett??...
I hope Tasha is let off and helped by this detective and gets away from all this maybe a twist for this novel is she gets on the good side of things and gets away from that life completely even if she has to separate herself from Scarlett but it appears Tasha gets hurt by Scarlett’s and sparrow’s stupidity as she’s blamed for Scarlett’s decisions...
Her life is ruined and Scarlett’s been living a luxurious life through it all...
I officially hate everyone for hurting Tasha and allowing things to happen to her. This whole Sparrow and Scarlett situation is some BS....
It’s a bit stupid that as powerful and ruthless sparrow is he and Scarlett sure do a lousy job of protecting and having guard on Tasha. Like how did all of this happen to her if he was supposed to be protecting her based on the contract??...
More Chapters Please...
I thought it said 10 chapters a day??? It’s been like 2-3 days and no update after chapter 574. The release time is so inconsistent, I have started to just loose interest....
Just find Tasha and get her some help. How did she have sparrow’s men watching her if she really cared so much. Scarlett’s character is so suspect…...
Storyline is interesting it’s just so much sexual content I have to skip through just find out the main context of the story....
