He shook his head quickly. "No, um, I just feel like we shouldn't just let them go."
"What's the point?" I reached for his hand and held it. "Celeste is behind everything. If I need to get back at someone, it should be Celeste. Do you know, after my lab was vandalized, I wanted to sell it? I found out someone was offering ten thousand dollars for it. Ten thousand dollars for my lab that was worth millions, because I was desperate, I wanted to sell. I went to meet the buyer, and guess who it was? It was Celeste."
"What?"
"Yeah." I laughed, hollow and bitter. "She decided to take my lab too, because she wants to leave me with absolutely nothing. I just don't get it. I don't know why she hates me so much. Maybe because she took an interest in my husband and wanted him for herself. But what wrong did I do? What wrong did I commit? Felix, you're all I have now. You're truly all I have."
He held my hands and assured me, over and over, that he wasn't going to leave me, that he would be by my side, that he would protect me no matter what. Then he told me to go and freshen up, that he would get dinner ready for me.
I did as he asked, retreating to the guest room. The moment the door clicked shut behind me, my lips curled into a smile. I shook my head and laughed quietly to myself.
It's almost too easy. Oh my God, how can someone be so stupid?
I took my bath slowly, enjoying the hot water on my skin, and when I came out, Felix had made dinner. A light one, simple, the kind of meal a man makes when he's trying to be gentle with a woman he thinks is fragile. I ate just a little, pushing the food around my plate, and told him I didn't have much of an appetite because of everything that had happened.
He said it was okay, and I could hear the sympathy in his voice, thick as honey.
As I headed toward my room for the night, I stopped and turned back to him. "Will you come stay with me?"
He blinked. "What?"

I hope Tasha is let off and helped by this detective and gets away from all this maybe a twist for this novel is she gets on the good side of things and gets away from that life completely even if she has to separate herself from Scarlett but it appears Tasha gets hurt by Scarlett’s and sparrow’s stupidity as she’s blamed for Scarlett’s decisions...
Her life is ruined and Scarlett’s been living a luxurious life through it all...
I officially hate everyone for hurting Tasha and allowing things to happen to her. This whole Sparrow and Scarlett situation is some BS....
It’s a bit stupid that as powerful and ruthless sparrow is he and Scarlett sure do a lousy job of protecting and having guard on Tasha. Like how did all of this happen to her if he was supposed to be protecting her based on the contract??...
