I let him take the pan, and then I turned and wrapped my arms around his neck, rising onto my tiptoes, tilting my face up to his.
He turned his head away. "What are you trying to do?"
"The reason I came back is because of you."
He frowned. "What do you mean?"
I let my voice drop, soft and honest, the way you speak when you're giving someone your whole heart. "That last time, when Celeste drugged me and you slept with me to save my life, I never forgot that night. I fought to keep it to myself because you already had someone. But after I was taken, after I was kidnapped and carried to that island, all I kept thinking about was you.
You're the reason I pulled through. I kept telling myself that if I survived, if I got a second chance, I wouldn't hide my feelings anymore. So even when I was running, my one thought was running back to you. Coming back to be with you."
He stared at me, frozen.
"I didn't come to you right away because I wanted to throw those men off, the ones searching for me. I wanted them to lose interest so that when I came to you, you wouldn't be in danger. But the truth is, after that day, I never could forget about you. It was when I was on that island that I realized I've fallen in love with you. None of the men who stood before me meant anything. My heart was overflowing with love for you, and I don't want to hold back anymore."
He was shaking his head slowly, his eyes wide. "Is it true? Do you really love me?"
"With all my heart." I nodded. "I love you more than I've ever loved any man."
I lifted my head and moved closer to kiss him, and again he turned his face away.
I stopped, hurt blooming across my face. "Don't you feel the same about me?"
He took my hands gently and lowered them from his neck. "It's not that. The fact is, I'm a married man. I made a lot of promises to Sierra. I can't break them."
"Why can't you just touch me?" I asked, a tremor in my voice. "We've done it before. And I know I'm the one you truly love."
"It's different." He let go of my hands and stepped back. "Back then I was trying to save your life. No matter how much I desire you now, I just can't cheat on Sierra. I don't like the idea of being a cheat. I don't want to be that husband. So if I can help it, cheating is not something I want to do."
His voice softened. "Yes, I really care about you, and I'll help you as much as I can. But once you're settled, you'll look for somewhere else to stay, so Sierra can come back."

The readers' comments on the novel: Two Can Play (Celeste and Dominic)
Agent Frost better teach Tasha how to protect herself if anything gets out of hand or if she’s ever in danger or forced again...
I need some good news for Tasha. Special Agent hear her out and don’t let her get back into that life. Do I hear a romance or someone Tasha can truly count on besides Scarlett??...
I hope Tasha is let off and helped by this detective and gets away from all this maybe a twist for this novel is she gets on the good side of things and gets away from that life completely even if she has to separate herself from Scarlett but it appears Tasha gets hurt by Scarlett’s and sparrow’s stupidity as she’s blamed for Scarlett’s decisions...
Her life is ruined and Scarlett’s been living a luxurious life through it all...
I officially hate everyone for hurting Tasha and allowing things to happen to her. This whole Sparrow and Scarlett situation is some BS....
It’s a bit stupid that as powerful and ruthless sparrow is he and Scarlett sure do a lousy job of protecting and having guard on Tasha. Like how did all of this happen to her if he was supposed to be protecting her based on the contract??...
More Chapters Please...
I thought it said 10 chapters a day??? It’s been like 2-3 days and no update after chapter 574. The release time is so inconsistent, I have started to just loose interest....
Just find Tasha and get her some help. How did she have sparrow’s men watching her if she really cared so much. Scarlett’s character is so suspect…...
Storyline is interesting it’s just so much sexual content I have to skip through just find out the main context of the story....
