I pulled Celeste into my arms and held her, feeling her heartbeat against my chest, feeling her whole body trembling. "Your mom is fine. She's here too, and she's fine."
"What happened to my mom?"
"Someone did something." I pulled back and looked at her. "I found Julian there, unconscious in the bathroom. He got into the house, he knocked your mother out, and he was waiting for you. He tried to assault you."
Her face changed. The confusion cleared and something harder took its place. "He tried to assault me after knocking me out? That's what he wanted?"
"Yes."
"I never thought Julian could stoop this low." Her voice shook with anger. "Just for a few minutes of disgusting pleasure. He did this to me?"
"Don't worry about it." I took her hand. "I'm going to make him pay. I promise you."
"It all makes sense." She looked at me, her eyes sharpening. "The text message. It all makes sense now."
"What do you mean?"
"My mom sent me a text." She swallowed. "She told me to come home after lunch, come alone, that we needed to discuss something important about you."
"About me?"
"I was scared it would be something unpleasant." Her voice dropped. "I wanted to hear it from her first before telling you. I should have told you. I should have told you about the message."
"It's okay." I squeezed her hand. "It's not your fault."
"Can I go see my mom?"
"Yes."
I helped her out of bed and walked her down the hall to her mother's room. The woman was awake now, looking around in confusion, and when she saw Celeste her face flooded with relief.
"What happened?" Her mother reached for her. "Why am I in the hospital? Why are you and Dominic here? Is everyone alright?"

I hope Tasha is let off and helped by this detective and gets away from all this maybe a twist for this novel is she gets on the good side of things and gets away from that life completely even if she has to separate herself from Scarlett but it appears Tasha gets hurt by Scarlett’s and sparrow’s stupidity as she’s blamed for Scarlett’s decisions...
Her life is ruined and Scarlett’s been living a luxurious life through it all...
I officially hate everyone for hurting Tasha and allowing things to happen to her. This whole Sparrow and Scarlett situation is some BS....
It’s a bit stupid that as powerful and ruthless sparrow is he and Scarlett sure do a lousy job of protecting and having guard on Tasha. Like how did all of this happen to her if he was supposed to be protecting her based on the contract??...
