I stared at her. "Three days? Why so soon?"
"I don't know, and I didn't ask. Their personal affairs are their personal affairs. But Sparrow's already arranged for us to attend." She nudged my arm. "You're coming with me this time, right? Or is there some new friend you want to drag along?"
"No, no, no!" I shook my head hard enough to make my earrings swing. "I'm done with all that friendship nonsense. You're the only friend I have in this world now."
Scarlett burst out laughing, and I couldn't help chuckling along.
"I'm serious, though," I pressed on. "Why would they move a wedding up to three days from now? That's so soon. No wonder Sparrow looks like he's carrying the entire city on his back."
"Mm. He's handling the whole security arrangement for it, so he has a mountain on his plate."
I nodded.
"Congratulations, by the way." I squeezed her hand. "I heard you're being discharged tomorrow."
She rolled her eyes so hard I worried for her optic nerves. "They should have discharged me ages ago. It's Sparrow being difficult. He wants my blood pressure even lower before he'll sign off. The doctor says my current level is relatively safe, but that man will not stop worrying. Anyway, I refuse to fight with him about it. I know he only wants what's best."
Then the excitement broke through again, bubbling up through her whole face. "So tomorrow, I finally leave this place! Do you know how happy I am? I'm so tired of hospitals. And whenever you're here with me, I feel so happy."
I took her hand in both of mine. "I'm sorry. Please don't be upset with me. I couldn't come yesterday, and I let you down again this morning. I just really want to commit to this thing properly now that I've started."
"No, no, no!" She cut me off before the apology could even gather weight. "You don't owe me an explanation. I understand. In fact, I'm happy. Really happy. You've found something you're interested in, something that's yours, and you're focusing on it."

I hope Tasha is let off and helped by this detective and gets away from all this maybe a twist for this novel is she gets on the good side of things and gets away from that life completely even if she has to separate herself from Scarlett but it appears Tasha gets hurt by Scarlett’s and sparrow’s stupidity as she’s blamed for Scarlett’s decisions...
Her life is ruined and Scarlett’s been living a luxurious life through it all...
I officially hate everyone for hurting Tasha and allowing things to happen to her. This whole Sparrow and Scarlett situation is some BS....
It’s a bit stupid that as powerful and ruthless sparrow is he and Scarlett sure do a lousy job of protecting and having guard on Tasha. Like how did all of this happen to her if he was supposed to be protecting her based on the contract??...

Storyline is interesting it’s just so much sexual content I have to skip through just find out the main context of the story....
