She stayed up late into the night studying the files.
She read with meticulous focus, stopping to rigorously calculate anything she didn't instantly grasp.
The methodology in some sections had evolved significantly since her university days.
Soon, her scratchpad was covered in a dense web of complex symbols and advanced equations.
For the next few days, she spent every free moment devouring the data and running mathematical proofs, completely losing track of time.
Friday arrived in a flash.
Seraphina woke up early, applied some light, professional makeup, and headed to the Institute of Nuclear Research.
She navigated through the main atrium and walked down the corridor to a private seminar room at the end of the hall.
The door was ajar, revealing a room already packed with experts.
Researchers were seated in a semi-circle, furiously debating over a dizzyingly complex schematic projected on the massive screen.
Dean Vance was seated in the front row. The moment he spotted her, his eyes lit up. He waved her over enthusiastically, patting the empty chair right beside him.
Seraphina walked over and took a seat, offering her mentor a respectful nod.
Seeing the stark increase of gray hair at his temples, she felt a sudden lump in her throat.
Dean Vance leaned in, dropping his voice to a whisper. "Did you review the materials?"
"I read through all of it."
"Any breakthroughs?"
"A few ideas. Let's see where the debate leads first."
Dean Vance nodded in absolute satisfaction and leaned back in his chair.
The seminar powered forward.
The presenter broke down the core bottlenecks plaguing the project, one by one.
Data streams and formulaic deductions scrolled across the screen while a researcher used a laser pointer to dissect each stage.
When they hit the third major obstacle, the tension in the room instantly spiked.
Two wildly different theoretical approaches crashed head-on, and neither faction was willing to yield.
The group on the left argued they needed to approach from Pathway A, adjusting the initial parameters. The faction on the right vehemently disagreed, insisting that would corrupt the variables down the line, and demanded a complete formulaic reconstruction starting from Point B.
Dean Vance caught her movement out of the corner of his eye and leaned over. "You got it?"
Seraphina slid the paper toward him.
Dean Vance took one look, and his eyes practically bulged out of his head.
He shot to his feet and cleared his throat loudly. "Alright, that's enough. Hold on."
The room fell into absolute silence as every head turned toward him.
Dean Vance looked at Seraphina and nodded toward the stage. "Go on, kid. Show them."
Seraphina nodded, stood up, and walked confidently to the front, taking the laser pointer.
The researchers stared at this completely unknown woman, their eyes brimming with blatant skepticism.
But since she was personally escorted by Dean Vance, no one dared object out loud.
They simply watched in silence, waiting to see if she was about to make a fool of herself or perform a miracle.
Standing before the massive whiteboard, Seraphina didn't start writing right away. She carefully traced the failed formulas on the projection from top to bottom, mapping out the architecture before finally uncapping her marker.
