Unloved Unwanted Unstoppable (Seraphina and Dominic) novel Chapter 199

What was she doing here?

In the past, when Seraphina picked her daughter up from school, she would occasionally bring Lily over to sit at Clara's stall.

Back then, Lily had always thrown massive tantrums, constantly complaining that her grandmother's place was dirty and gross.

The Lockwood family had strictly forbidden Lily from coming here, claiming that street food was unsanitary and beneath their social standing.

Seraphina used to feel utterly heartbroken by those comments, spending countless hours trying to reason with her daughter.

She would explain that Clara's food was fresh, spotless, and made with love. She always gave Lily the absolute best ingredients, not cheap street scraps.

But Lily bluntly refused to listen.

Even when dragged there, she would violently pull at Seraphina's coat, trying to drag her away.

Seraphina had always told herself that once Lily grew a bit older, she would understand.

But that day never came.

And now, sitting right across the street, Lily was aggressively stuffing her face with literal garbage.

The rival shop Cynthia had opened couldn't compete with Clara's authentic cooking, so they had completely abandoned proper meals and switched to selling cheap, deep-fried junk food.

Seraphina's chest tightened painfully.

Lily had a terribly sensitive stomach; eating that garbage was going to make her violently ill.

Taking a deep breath, Seraphina crossed the street.

Lily was just about to shove another piece of fried chicken into her mouth when she looked up and saw Seraphina. Her eyes lit up instantly, and her mouth opened, ready to yell "Mom."

But a second later, she remembered something. She snapped her mouth shut, stuck her nose in the air, and crossed her arms.

Her grandmother and aunt had both told her that her mother was acting horribly lately, and that she shouldn't forgive her so easily.

Seraphina let out a soft sigh, crouching down to look her daughter in the eye.

"Lily, eating all this is going to upset your stomach. You need to stop. Did you forget about the last time you ended up in the hospital?"

Lily had planned to give her the silent treatment.

But hearing the word "hospital" brought back a flood of miserable, painful memories.

She angrily threw the half-eaten chicken back onto the plate.

"Fine, I won't eat it."

Relieved, Seraphina reached out to stroke her hair, but Lily dodged backward, hugging her arms tightly as she turned her face away.

"I wasn't going to eat this stuff anyway. The nanny is cooking me real food inside."

But her mom was still so mean, instantly scolding her the second they spoke.

The more Lily thought about it, the angrier she got, and tears instantly welled up in her eyes.

She shouldn't have come.

If her mom wasn't going to come back and beg for forgiveness, she was never coming back here again.

Fuming with bratty rage, her eyes still uncontrollably darted across the street.

Back inside the cafe, Phoebe was still crouched on the floor playing with the cat, her hair getting completely messy in the process.

Seraphina walked over, pulled a brush from her purse, and neatly tied Phoebe's hair into two little braids.

Phoebe looked at herself in a small mirror and beamed with pure joy.

She dug into her little backpack and pulled out two hair clips.

Seraphina took one and clipped it into Phoebe's hair, but as she reached for the second, Phoebe snatched it back and gently clipped it onto the kitten's head.

The cat instantly looked twice as adorable.

Seraphina let out a warm laugh and gently ruffled Phoebe's hair. The scene was picture-perfect and incredibly sweet.

From across the street, Lily watched the entire thing unfold.
