The day of the birthday banquet arrived quickly.
The party was held at an exclusive private venue within Westside Tech Park, drawing a massive crowd of attendees.
Seraphina arrived early. The moment Vivian spotted her, she hurried over, scanning the area behind her, only to look visibly disappointed when there was no sign of Zachary.
Seraphina gently explained that Zach was caught up in a crucial experiment today and couldn't make it.
The bright spark in Vivian's eyes dimmed for a second, but she quickly masked it with a radiant smile, declaring that since Zach wasn't there, she would dedicate her entire evening to keeping Seraphina company.
Seraphina nodded, following her deeper into the venue.
Vivian led Seraphina straight toward the laboratory zones.
As they walked, Vivian introduced the various high-tech equipment, coming completely alive whenever she spoke about professional technicalities.
Tristan followed closely behind them, carrying two drinks—handing one to Seraphina and the other to Vivian.
Trailing behind Tristan was Yvette Lockwood.
Yvette sidled up to Tristan, flashing a sickly-sweet smile. "Tristan, why didn't you grab a drink for me too?"
Tristan's tone was completely indifferent. "I thought you didn't drink these."
The smile on Yvette's face stiffened momentarily before she smoothly recovered. "That's true. I normally avoid sugary drinks anyway; they ruin my figure."
Seraphina took a small sip of her drink, casually sweeping her gaze over Yvette before looking away without a trace of emotion.
Yvette was impeccably made up today, her hair perfectly styled in elegant waves, and she had been shadowing Tristan ever since she walked through the doors.
Her eyes were practically glued to him, refusing to look anywhere else.
Seraphina understood the situation perfectly.
Yvette had a blatant, glaringly obvious crush on Tristan, one that the entirety of Northport could likely see from a mile away.
However, Tristan remained perpetually aloof, maintaining a polite yet incredibly distant boundary.
The group reached the end of the laboratory corridor, where several massive testing machines were lined up.
Seraphina and the others clustered around the monitors, discussing the data streams in a highly technical yet engaging conversation.
"Yes, Seraphina does seem awfully close to Mr. Spencer."
Yvette whipped her head around. "Right? You see it too?"
Cynthia's expression turned coolly judgmental. "While it might not be a huge deal, it's hard for people not to gossip. After all, Dominic and she aren't officially divorced yet. It's simply improper for her to be so cozy with another man."
"Besides, everyone knows you and Tristan are practically an item, Yvette. Seraphina clearly doesn't know her boundaries."
Yvette grabbed Cynthia's hand, her eyes welling with dramatic tears. "Cynthia, you're the only one who understands me. You're the absolute best."
Cynthia patted her back soothingly. "Calm down, Yvette. I remember you being an excellent swimmer. There's a race happening at the pool right now, why don't you go show off a little? I'm sure Tristan would love to see you shine."
Yvette's eyes instantly lit up.
That was right; swimming was her greatest strength.
Cynthia was brilliantly reminding her that she could completely dominate at the pool, and once Tristan saw her, he'd know exactly who the superior woman was.
She immediately tugged on Cynthia's hand. "Cynthia, I remember you being an amazing swimmer too! Let's go together, and we'll drag her along!"
