Unloved Unwanted Unstoppable (Seraphina and Dominic) novel Chapter 223

Seraphina clenched her fists.

Arthur opened his mouth to argue, but she grabbed his sleeve.

"Fine. We'll do it."

Drake smiled in satisfaction. "Ms. Sinclair is a smart woman."

Without overstaying his welcome, he turned and left with his men.

Silence fell over the lab.

Seraphina scanned the room, then slipped over to the door. Through the crack, she could see armed guards stationed outside.

She took a slow, steadying breath and checked her surroundings again. She didn't spot any cameras, but she remained cautious.

She signaled to Arthur, silently communicating that they needed to prioritize their safety, assess the situation, and wait for the right moment to escape.

Arthur looked at his daughter and nodded.

Seraphina brushed her fingers over her fitness tracker. It contained a hidden micro-camera that had been recording everything.

She hadn't told her father about it.

Drake might be from The Delta, but that didn't mean he could kidnap people on foreign soil without consequence.

Not long after, the lab doors opened again.

A few more people were shoved inside.

Among them was a young, slender man in his early thirties wearing glasses.

Seraphina recognized him immediately.

After being roughed up as a warning, the new arrivals were left in the room.

Seraphina soon learned that the young man was Owen Hamilton, one of the country's leading applied science experts.

When Owen heard Arthur's name, his eyes lit up with deep respect. Arthur was a legend in their field.

And when he realized who Seraphina was—the brilliant woman currently dominating the scientific community—his admiration only grew.

They all agreed to play along with Drake's demands while secretly planning their escape.

Three days later, they had mapped out the guard patrols.

The shift change happened between 2:00 and 2:10 AM. During that window, only two guards remained at the door, making it their best chance to run.

"I hope the rest of you experts are a bit more obedient, or you'll end up just like him."

With that, he strutted out of the room.

Seraphina clenched her fists, a suffocating wave of rage crashing over her.

She glanced at Arthur; her father was pale, his lips trembling.

She had to protect him, no matter what.

Taking a deep breath, she slowly unfurled her hands.

They couldn't wait any longer.

They were leaving tonight.

At 1:50 AM, the lab lights were off, leaving only the dim glow of the emergency bulbs.

Seraphina crouched by the crack in the door. Down the hall, the two guards were huddled together smoking; one yawned loudly while the other scrolled on his phone.

At precisely 2:00 AM, footsteps echoed down the corridor. The next shift had arrived.
