Dominic looked at her, his gaze completely devoid of warmth.

"It's barely been a few days, and you already can't take it?"

Dominic crushed his cigarette out on the windowsill. "So Seraphina just deserved to be tortured by you for all those years?"

Winifred stubbornly raised her chin. "Who tortured her? I certainly didn't..."

"Enough." Dominic cut her off, slamming the investigation report down on the table right in front of her.

"Everything you did is fully documented right here."

Winifred glanced at it, her lips trembling as she tried to deny it again. But seeing the predatory, murderous rage in Dominic's eyes, she forced herself to swallow her words.

Dominic took a sharp breath. "Just to use Prima's designs, you had Seraphina drugged and manipulated her into marrying into our family."

"And after she married me, you suppressed her at every turn, forcing her to work like a dog for you in absolute obedience."

His voice dropped to a dangerously low pitch. "She was a brilliant, radiant woman, and we ruthlessly ground her down until she completely lost her light."

Winifred's lips quivered, her face flashing between red and pale.

"So what! If I hadn't done that, Lockwood's would have been destroyed a long time ago!"

"So you destroyed her entire life instead?"

"What's there to destroy! Marrying into the Lockwood family was the greatest blessing of her life!"

Dominic stared at her, letting out a dark, mocking laugh.

"A blessing? Ask yourself, did you give her even a single day of peace?"

Winifred choked on her words. She opened her mouth but couldn't form a response.

Standing off to the side and sensing the volatile atmosphere, Yvette quickly stepped forward and linked arms with Winifred. "Dominic, how can you speak to Mom like that..."

Dominic didn't even look at her. "Shut up."

Yvette shrank back at the viciousness in his voice, not daring to make another sound.

Being reprimanded by her own son caused a surge of indignant rage to clog Winifred's chest. Her eyes turned red.

She pointed a trembling finger at Dominic. "You think you're so powerful now, don't you! Turning on your own mother for that woman?!"

"You've been so disobedient lately! Treating me worse and worse! I bet Seraphina taught you to do this!"

Dominic ripped his arm away, his voice freezing cold. "Take her back to The Fernwood Estate."

Two bodyguards immediately stepped forward.

Winifred tried to thrash and fight, but they grabbed her by both arms and dragged her out.

She screamed the entire way. "Dominic! How dare you treat your mother this way! Just you wait! I won't let that bitch Seraphina get away with this!"

Her screams echoed down the hall before finally fading outside the front doors.

Yvette remained frozen in place, all the color draining from her face.

She stammered nervously, "Dominic, Mom was just looking out for you. You didn't have to be so mean to her..."

"If you want to be locked up too, you can go join her."

Yvette stiffened, instantly swallowing the rest of her words.

"I... I'll just be going now."

She snatched her bag and bolted out the door without looking back.
