Unloved Unwanted Unstoppable (Seraphina and Dominic) novel Chapter 268

The smugness in Cynthia Ross's eyes practically spilled over.

Wasn't it obvious?

Dominic Lockwood's twenty million dollars was the highest amount in the room. No one else even came close.

Even if Seraphina Sinclair was Ethan Harrington's apprentice, money was tangible. The donation numbers were right there in black and white. It was entirely obvious who gave more and who gave less.

The light in Ethan's eyes deepened.

He smiled softly. "To tell you the truth, tonight's top donor gave fifty million dollars. However, this donor chose to remain anonymous and didn't want to make a big show of it. Since they prefer not to show their face, we won't bring it up."

The crowd erupted in an uproar.

Someone shouted, "Maestro Harrington, if someone donated fifty million, then that score absolutely should have gone to the anonymous donor! Not your apprentice, right?"

As soon as the words left his mouth, several people nodded in agreement.

Ethan kept his soft smile. He waved his hand and was about to speak when an assistant stepped up to his side, presenting a smartphone to him.

Ethan took it, scanned the screen, and chuckled.

He held up the phone. "Ladies and gentlemen, the donor who just gave fifty million dollars explicitly stated that he is more than happy to see this gift go to Ms. Seraphina Sinclair."

The crowd exploded once again, but this time, there wasn't a single voice of doubt. After all, if the VIP themselves was perfectly fine giving it to Seraphina, who were they to complain?

The color completely drained from Cynthia's face. A suffocating lump formed in her throat, leaving her gasping for air.

The person who donated fifty million dollars... was also taking Seraphina's side?

Why?!

As the crowd continued to buzz, Ethan raised his hand, gesturing for quiet.

He spoke up. "Since someone mentioned something about the event being rigged, I think I should clarify a few more things."

He glanced sideways at Seraphina.

"While Seraphina wasn't the top donor tonight, she was the second highest."

With that, he nodded at his assistant.

The assistant quickly tapped a few buttons, and the backend donation ledger appeared on the massive projection screen in the center of the hall. The rest of the information was blurred out, leaving only a single row visible.

The Sinclair family had been doing fine back then. Her father hadn't gotten sick, her brother was full of life, and she didn't have a single financial worry in the world.

So, after discussing it with her family, she donated it all.

After that, she continued to receive various bonuses and awards from different fields, and nearly all of that went to charity as well.

Then Arthur Sinclair fell ill, her brother Zach had his accident, and the family suddenly plunged into financial hardship.

During those years, she had to stretch every single penny, forcing her to pause her charitable donations.

But even then, whenever she had a little extra breathing room, she would squeeze out whatever spare change she had and send it to the public welfare projects she had followed for years.

Later, when the Sinclair family got back on its feet, she resumed her habit of giving.

Even after she married into the Lockwood family, she continued to donate in secret.

No one knew about this.

She never planned on letting anyone find out.

Yet today, her mentor had announced it to the world.
