"But nobody is perfect. Who hasn't made mistakes when they were young?"

Caleb clenched his fists. "When it comes down to it, she did all of it because she just loved you too much."

Listening to this impassioned, tearful defense, the look in Dominic's eyes grew distant and complex.

Caleb was right. Even back then, Cynthia had loved him with everything she had.

She had done terrible things, yes, but at the core of it, she had just been terrified of losing him.
