After checking on the cat, Lily ran back to grab her mother's hand, and the three of them headed out of the shop together.

Just as they stepped out the door, they nearly collided with a tall figure.

Gideon was standing at the bottom of the steps, holding Phoebe's hand.

"Mr. Cole?" Seraphina looked pleasantly surprised. "What are you doing here?"

"I brought her out for dinner, and she said she was craving Clara's cooking."

"Are you all heading home?" A hint of disappointment flickered in Gideon's eyes.

Clara quickly chimed in, "Yes, we're having a big family dinner tonight. Why don't you and Phoebe join us?"

"Mom..." Seraphina tried to interject gently, thinking Gideon might not be used to their simple, home-cooked meals.

"We'd love to," Gideon accepted without missing a beat. "Thank you so much for the invitation."

Phoebe clapped her hands. "Yay! We get to eat at Seraphina's house!"

Seraphina rubbed her temples in defeat.

Meanwhile, Lily was hiding behind Seraphina's legs, peeking out with hesitant eyes. She darted glances between Gideon and Phoebe.

She had yelled at this older girl the last time they met.

She was a little scared.

And the scary uncle was here too...

But Phoebe seemed to have completely forgotten their previous spat. She ran over and grabbed Lily's hand. "Lily, can I come play at your house? Can we eat dinner together?"

Lily stood frozen for a second.

The older girl's hand was soft, and her voice was friendly. She wasn't angry at all.

She nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! I want to play with you!"

Standing off to the side, Seraphina watched the exchange, unable to stop the soft smile curving her lips.

The group of five headed back to the Sinclair house.

Zach was just walking back from the supermarket with two massive bags of groceries. Seeing Gideon step out of his car, he stopped dead in his tracks. "Mr. Cole?"

Gideon nodded, a polite smile on his face. "Zach. I'm crashing your family dinner tonight."
