"But there's something urgent right now. Mr. Lockwood had a severe stomach flare-up and is in the hospital. He's been throwing up since last night and can't keep anything down. He looks like he's wasted away... Do you think... you could make him a bowl of your oatmeal and bring it over?"
Seraphina let out a cold scoff, rejecting the request without a second thought. "I don't have the time. If you can't find the footage, then don't bother. Get back to your own job."
With that, she hung up and tossed her phone aside.
She didn't care if Dominic had a stomach ache. Even if he were dying, it was none of her business!
Her eyes turned glacial as her fingers resumed flying across the keyboard.
Soon, she pulled up all the video files from that specific time window.
The figure dressed as Riley appeared on screen.
Seraphina paused the video, zoomed in on the frame, and stared at the blurry side profile for a long time.
Then she looped the video, analyzing it over and over.
Even though the person was walking with an awkward gait—clearly a deliberate move to throw off the cameras—Seraphina still felt the figure looked incredibly familiar.
It felt like she had seen her somewhere before.
She narrowed her eyes, sifting carefully through her memories.
According to the video, Lily was holding this person's hand the entire time without putting up any resistance. Her steps were light, and in some fleeting moments, she even seemed to be smiling.
For a child to follow someone so happily, it had to be a person she was very familiar with.
She absolutely knew this person.
She kept rewinding the footage, refusing to miss even the smallest detail.
Until finally, a crystal-clear realization clicked in her brain.
This person was... Lauren Lennox!
The adopted daughter of her biological family, The Lennox family!
Seraphina's pupils contracted sharply.
Lauren was very close to Lily. It made perfect sense that the child trusted her and followed her.
Seraphina stared at the frozen image on her monitor, a tidal wave of sheer hatred crashing through her chest.
How had she not realized this sooner?!
Lauren had always despised her!
