So when Seraphina called, it was only natural for Cynthia to answer.
Right now, she truly felt like she was the rightful Mrs. Lockwood.
It felt amazing.
And she was doing this on purpose.
She specifically targeted the things Seraphina cared about the most, pouring salt right into the wound.
She wanted Seraphina to know that the bond between her and Dominic wasn't something a few nasty words could break.
She imagined Seraphina was furious and heartbroken right now—after all, everything she used to have was now Cynthia's. She wanted her to suffer!
She took a breath and added, "Stop pestering Dominic from now on."
Seraphina let out a cold laugh.
Taking a deep breath, her voice turned unnervingly calm. "What ex? Did you forget? We haven't signed the divorce papers yet. We are still legally married."
The other end of the line went completely silent.
"You..."
Seraphina pressed on. "You're going to Davenport with him to get Lily, right? Then you better make sure you bring her back to me. Because if anything happens to Lily and I lose my only anchor, I am absolutely not getting a divorce."
"I will cling to Dominic forever. I'll make him my permanent meal ticket, ensuring I'm taken care of for the rest of my life."
"Cynthia, you hooked him by playing the helpless victim, didn't you? Well, guess what, I know how to play that game too. If I lose my child, there is no way in hell he won't feel sorry for me."
Cynthia was livid. "Seraphina, you are shameless!"
Seraphina smiled. "The other woman is the shameless one. Mark my words, Cynthia. As long as I don't sign those papers, I will always be Mrs. Lockwood. And you will always be nothing but the mistress."
A sharp click echoed from the phone as Cynthia hung up.
Seraphina stared at the darkened screen, her grip tightening on the device.
She quickly analyzed the situation. She definitely wasn't getting The Lockwood family's jet now.
Dominic, that absolute trash of a man, was utterly useless.
Since he insisted on bringing Cynthia along, Seraphina decided to poke at Cynthia's biggest insecurity, forcing her to tread carefully.
